Saying Goodbye / Robert Fallstad
« on: January 24, 2009, 04:12:02 PM »
FYI---I received this email recently.

Hello, I knew Robert Fallstad in the army, we served together at Letterman Hospital at the Presidio in San Francisco in 1968.  Your website indicates that he recently passed away.  I would be interested in making contact with anyone who remembers him.  He told me once that he had published a poem or two.  I am also interested if anyone has knowledge of this.  I am best reached at
Thank you very much for your time and consideration, Joel Garb

40th Anniversary Reunion / Jokes
« on: August 20, 2008, 03:44:20 AM »
totally coincidentally, I just got this joke from a friend in one of those typical joke emails:

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table. My wife asked,' Do you know her?' 'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.' 'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'
And then the fight started.....

Keeping in Touch / Sharing pictures

As the webmaster, people have been sending me some pretty cool pictures as current bio updates.  I've felt kind of bad cropping everything down to a 100 pixel high headshot, but felt like that was the appropriate way to do it in an online catalog of roughly 500 classmates.

What I'd like to do here is encourage you to post those pictures in this area of the message board, so we can see the rest of your beautiful family, loved ones, favorite pet, etc.  Here are the basic instructions.

First, if you have the photo online, just use the "insert image" icon (second from left in the icon row above the smileys)
just select the image url, and then click the icon, which will wrap tags around the url
For photos not online
save a copy, keep the file size below 128K
  that should be plenty big
make sure there is some explanatory text in the main window
click the "additional option" link under the text entry window
click the "choose file" button to select your picture from its location on your hard disk
click the "post" button at the bottom
When the post has been accepted, it will display a thumbnail of the image that people will click on to see the full size.

if you need help, just contact me, and I'll try and talk you through the process.  I know a lot of people don't feel comfortable with these message boards, but I think people will really enjoy this once you take the trouble to post your pix.

Please let us know what hotel you're staying in if you're coming from out of town.  Martha and I will be staying at the Travelodge Santa Cruz, 525 Ocean Street.

Go to if you're looking for places to stay.  Make a post in this topic for other ideas.  People should be nailing this down.  Rooms will start drying up fast.
